End Prohibition at Black Hills State University

The student code of conduct imposes the prohibition and penalty for possessing or using alcohol and alcohol containers on Black Hill State’s campus. In doing so, students of legal age at Black Hills State continue to be deprived of rights afforded them elsewhere. Most importantly, they may not be allowed to make the safest decisions for themselves or fellow students.

Black Hill states’ decision grants little room for exceptions, leaving students without real means to make the decision that is safest for themselves. The right to make one’s own decisions regarding alcohol and safety should not be usurped by college administrators, especially when they are not the ones who are generally affected by campus rules and environments.

We, the undersigned students of Black Hills State University, hereby petition President Laurie Nichols to overturn the student code of conduct alcohol policy and restore the rights of all Black Hills State students.
