Earlier this month, YAL Manhattan College was joined by our state chairman, Daniel Giles, to help get our chapter off the ground running. We spent the afternoon out on the quad recruiting, and took the time to converse with fellow students about politics and inform them about the club. The afternoon proved to be a very successful one, and was a big step forward in planting the building blocks for our school’s YAL chapter.
Daniel came down to our campus with dozens of political quizzes on hand, as well as signup sheets. After a few hours on the quad, we received over 40 signatures, and learned that many of the students here at Manhattan are extraordinarily close to libertarianism. Later that night, our chapter held a meeting with Daniel.
Roughly 10 people showed, making it our largest meeting yet. We kicked off the meeting with some ice breakers, asking everyone to say one thing they would like to do that the government is currently preventing them from doing. Daniel then spoke about some of the cool things YAL does and how he can be of assistance as we grow, and we also spoke about the current political climate in the United States.
We look forward to growing our chapter here at Manhattan College and spreading the message of liberty to our fellow students.
