Amash at Georgetown

On April 20, the Young Americans for Liberty chapter at Georgetown University met to hear from Representative Justin Amash (MI-03) about the future of the libertarian movement.

Rep. Amash touched on some key memories and practices that he has picked up during his time in Congress, and in the Michigan House of Representatives before that.

He spoke about how the party leadership in the US Congress would often try to get in the way of his goals of promoting liberty. When asked how he stayed on message even when it would be reasonable to be discouraged, he said that his mission in the house was to fight for liberty and to show the American people what being a conservative really means. He also talked about his practice of explaining each of his votes on his Facebook, something that he has been doing since his time in the Michigan House.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable and informative event!
