Bush: “I’ve abandoned free market principles…”

CNN Inteview with George W. Bush

As if we didn’t have enough reason already to be unhappy with our nation’s fearless leader, President Bush admitted in a recent interview with CNN that he has “abandoned free market principles to save the free market.” In case you still had any doubt regarding the President’s conservatism, this statement should make the question quite clear. Bush uses this statement to justify his support for the automobile industry bailout, claiming that such a heavy-handed redistribution of wealth would save the economy. Apparently Mr. Bush feels that neither the interests of those U.S. taxpayers who are not employed by the American auto industry nor the value of the dollar is worth protecting. At least he is willing to admit that he is, indeed, abandoning his alleged principles.
