On Freedom Day, Portland Community College hosted it’s first event which was a screening of “Can We Take A Joke?” News of the screening was spread around campus by using posters, social media, emails and chalk-bombing.
About 20 people attended the screening with 12 staying for a discussion afterwards. After the movie, attendees discussed their opinions on free speech and shared stories of being censored on campus. It was an interesting and open dialogue about the importance and effect of free speech on college campuses.
After the discussion enough attendees were interested in the club that we will be applying for formal recognition from the student government. All in all our screening was an exciting start for our young chapter. We look forward to continuing to grow our chapter and spreading the message of liberty.
