The YAL chapter at Stetson University recently participated in the fight for free speech. We showed the screening for “Can We Take a Joke?” We advertised the event by passing out pocket constitutions, flyers and YAL swag.
Our YAL chapter president Jack spoke briefly before the movie. He talked about the importance of free speech on college campuses and why this fight is so critical. A free speech challenge was set in the back of the room for people to be inspired to speak their minds. People were able to write whatever they wanted to on the free speech wall.
The event turned out to be a great success. Students overall enjoyed the documentary and became more informed on the issues of free speech. We are excited for what the future holds for our chapter and cannot wait to have more events next semester.Published in
