On Wednesday, September 17, the members of Ferris State YAL participated in what is called “Bulldog Bonanza”, which fell perfectly on Constitution Day. This is our school’s student organization fair.
We utilized this time to set up our Free Speech Wall. Surprisingly, many people were extremely hesitant to write on the wall, and we found it sometimes difficult to engage our fellow students in discussion about the First Amendment. Several pocket Constitutions were handed out, yet many were hesitant to take those as well.
Luckily, we were able to overcome these difficulties! By the end of the day our Free Speech Wall was full, and we had several new students interested in joining our organization. I’d say that our Constitution Week activism was a success!Published in
