YAL at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa tabled on campus in celebration of Constitution Week. We received our activism kit and handed outCconstitutions to as many students as possible. We also setup a small ‘Free Speech’ wall where students could write whatever they pleased. It was a big hit, and we had a wide variety of comments and pictures on our wall. I found that many students were really receptive to the ideal of expressing their right to free speech, I think I will use the wall every time I tabled.
We also tabled the day after the first presidential debate, determined to give out the rest of the Constitutions, which turned out to be a great day to table because many students watched the “debate” and politics were already on their minds. We had a great response! I was able to find some key members for the chapter, give out the rest of our Constitutions, and the student body really appreciated the ‘Free Speech’ wall.
