Defending the Constitution and Gathering Members

This week the Sweet Briar Chapter held our very first tabling event. Our chapter was founded late this semester and so recruiting members to fill the club as well as debuting to campus was the main goal of the day. We set up in the dining hall atrium with our pocket constitutions and waited for the students to start filing in.

We tabled for about an hour and a half and got the opportunity to talk with lots of students about the mission of YAL and the constitution. We handed out dozens of constitutions and pamphlets and got 10 signatures on our recruitment sheet. We got a very positive response and people were happy to see a diversification of political organizations on campus. Overall, it was successful and informative.

Now we are moving forward to continue to establish Sweet Briar’s YAL chapter and involve the student body with issues that are facing our nation today.
