“Ron Paul cannot get elected. I’m sorry,” Mr. Trump told the crowd this afternoon at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington.
The audience reacted with a collective gasp followed by an eruption of anger at the celebrity real estate developer and host of the NBC reality TV show “The Apprentice,” where his signature line is: “You’re fired!”
Mr. Trump, who has been saying he might run for president in 2012, then doubled down. “I like Ron Paul,” he said of the Texas Republican who gained a fervent following among libertarians in the 2010 primaries. “I think he’s a nice guy. But he has zero chance of getting elected.”
Ironically, Trump seems to think that himself winning the presidency would bring respect to the U.S. Right…because of course a reality star would be more respectable than an 11-term congressman with an extensive background in economics.
Rand Paul came to his father’s defense later in the day, saying “I think his chances are less than my father’s.”Published in
