Drinking Age Protest at The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

On Thursday, March 1 the YAL chapter at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) held a drinking age protest.

The event preluded “Unofficial,” a holiday unique to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in which students celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day on campus in lieu of the actual holiday which takes place over spring break. This year “Unofficial” took place on Friday, March 2.  The YAL chapter purchased a root-beer keg and set up a beer pong table on the quad, inviting students to participate. Members engaged interested students by explaining the federal laws pertaining to the drinking age, as well as city restrictions put on local business during unofficial.  The event resulted in seventy-two new signups for the YAL chapter at UIUC!
