Last week our chapter held a booth during our university’s “Walk a mile in her shoes” event. The event was about raising awareness of domestic violence. Campus organizations were invited to host tables and games to support the cause. Our YAL chapter hosted a War On YOUth themed campaign. The giant Debt Pong game was a great hit and the students loved it. We distributed lots of materials and Constitutions.
While not strictly a recruiting event, it was great to see our chapter welcomed into the network of other student organizations on campus and get to give back to the community. Part of the struggle of getting a chapter started is always cutting through the administrative red tape, so getting to hold an event like this for us was a sign that we’ve made a lot of progress this year. With administration in mind, we also got a grant of $100 to hold our next recruiting event, the fall block party.
It’s been a great experience and I’m excited to see what the future holds in store for our YAL chapter!Published in
