Fight for free speech at San Francisco State University

The San Francisco State University YAL chapter decided to promote free speech on our campus after there was some controversy about “cultural appropriation.” It was a crowded quad area which was the perfect opportunity for us to spread awareness on the importance of free speech on college campuses.

We promoted tolerance nonetheless, articulating how freedom of expression pertains to all aspects of life, whether that is through fashion, dance, music, or simply poetry. Overall, this event was a huge success. We were able to get several new sign-ups and in the process we helped spread the message of liberty to our fellow students. We look forward to having more events in the future and continuing to promote free speech on our campus.
