September 27th was my first ever Free Speech Ball event. I had an absolute blast and regret not having one sooner. We tabled along with it to achieve maximum reach, and the balls are really great for catching attention. It went really well, I think, specifically because we had two balls. We kept one by the table to draw people there while we rolled the other around in the academic quad.
The students responded really well to our event. I expected to get called a white supremacist or a supporter of hate speech, but we did not have one problem with anyone. Even some administrators and faculty came over and wrote stuff on the ball and signed our Free Speech petition. It was a great event with even greater success, I hope we can do it, as well as other events, again sometime soon.Published in
