In late September, our YAL chapter hosted a free speech ball on campus. (WI campus speech code policies) We had over 100 signatures from students demanding the removal of our campus free speech zones, which I brought to the Vice Chancellor’s Campus Climate Free Speech Task Force.
We were able to engage with a diverse body of students as well as connect with business leaders in the community since that was the day of our campus internship and job fair.
Students on the Free Speech Task Force expressed an interest in round table discussions on controversial issues (i.e. gun control). Since our chapter has hosted these in the past, we are planning a similar event for this coming November.Published in
