Here at Georgia Gwinnett College, we held our “Free Speech Table” event for Constitution Week, and it was a big hit!
Because we didn’t have enough time or resources to build a free speech wall, we made a free speech table, instead. It consisted of a 6′ folding table covered with white craft paper. It’s the quick and dirty free speech wall.
Students really liked the idea of being able to write whatever came to their minds. When we explained to them that this is constitution week, and that we were giving them the opportunity to exercise their First Amendment right, they actually got excited. We handed out a approximately 40 pocket Constitutions, and YAL literature, and we collected a good number of email addresses.
As this event was a huge success, GGC students can look forward to future events just like it!
