YAL at the University of Southern Indiana got the activism ball rolling on September 26th with a Freedom of Speech Ball. It was decided with the current state that the country was in, it was time to allow students to use their right to freedom of speech.
Students swarmed the ball and asked questions about what does it mean and why we were doing it. As our freedom of speech policy went up in the FIRE ratings, there is still much to do for the University of Southern Indiana. We had administrators and professors and even military sign and write on our ball.
Our administrators encouraged other students to take part in our organization and told them that by not doing so, they were not taking advantage of their rights to freedom of speech on campus.
YAL and USI’s next event is a Freedom of Speech event co-sponsored with Generation Opportunity and Turning Point USA on November 1st.Published in
