Basically, MSNBC’s Ed Schultz tries to raise questions about gun control and fails. To Mr. Schultz’ credit, when the interview with witness Joe Zamudio turns very pro-2nd Amendment and against gun control, Mr. Schultz didn’t turn hostile or make any condescending remarks.
Mr. Zamudio was one of the witnesses in the Giffords shooting who held down Jared Loughner, the shooter. He does own a pistol, and was prepared to use it that day. In Mr. Zamudio’s words, “Thankfully, I did not have to use it.” I would agree with Mr. Schultz that this is no time to stifle debate, but the main culprit here is a mentally ill man who could have gotten a firearm in many ways. The shooting was a tragedy, but gun control is hardly the answer. This clip seems a little ironic to me as Giffords is pro-2nd Amendment.Published in
