Jake Porter visits Dordt College

On November 8th, Dordt YAL hosted  Jake Porter on campus in the Kuyper Loft. Mr. Porter spoke on several topics ranging from what made him become a libertarian to what he sees going wrong in the Iowa State Government. Mr. Porter spoke for about 20min and then responded to a Q&A session with the audience for approximately 40 minutes. Having Mr. Porter on campus was a valuable experience for our chapter members as we got to hear firsthand from someone who is down in the trenches fighting for liberty. While this event did not gain us more than a few new names and emails, it was our largest attended speech event and probably our best run event to date. After Jake Porter finished speaking, we had pizza and Pepsi brought in for everyone to enjoy. The event was a major success and sounds like it could lead to future opportunities as Jake Porter was extremely grateful and appreciative for us setting up the event. It was a good opportunity for different members of the chapter to step into some roles and take initiative and ownership of creating the event.
