This is from a couple days ago, so I extend my apologies in advance to those who already heard about it.
From the Reason blog, however, comes a link to a story on a Florida man who was jailed for three months while the police charged that the breath mint an officer pulling him over had seen in his mouth was crack cocaine. The police man claimed that the mints tested positive for drugs, and the man was put in jail without bond. While there, he lost his job, apartment, and car — the latter of which the police auctioned off themselves. Then the drug test from the State’s Attorney came back…and yes, they were just breath mints. Read the rest here.Published in
