Mexico Decriminalizes Small-Scale Drug Possession — When Will the U.S.?

Mexico has taken a step in instituting more freedom for their citizens by decriminalizing small amounts of drug possession.  So when is the United States gonna follow suit?

From the AP:

Mexico decriminalized small amounts of marijuana, cocaine and heroin on Friday — a move that prosecutors say makes sense even in the midst of the government’s grueling battle against drug traffickers.

While using drugs (except marijuana) can do damage to your body, does it really hurt anybody else?  Probably not, and the federal government needs to realize this fact, and the fact that the people are better able to take care of themselves than the government ever could be.

Individual choice reigns supreme in the minds of Americans because we know our history.  It was the principle of the founding fathers, but over the years, our government has seen fit to dictate how we live our lives.  It has become a nanny state to tell us what is good for us and what is bad.

Freedom to be left alone is essential in a free society, and with the current drug policies we have in this country, we don’t have that freedom readily available.
