News Reports: Ron Paul Most Popular Speaker at CPAC Today

Here are just a few of the news articles on Ron Paul’s rousing CPAC speech today.  The reports are almost universally favorable and respectful — quite a change from 2008:

  • CNN:  “Texas Rep. Ron Paul addressed the Conservative Political Action Conference Friday, repeating the mantra of limited government that has rocketed him to stardom among a certain segment of conservative activists. Easily garnering the most enthusiastic applause of the day, Paul advocated for a complete governmental retreat in every realm of society.”
  • HuffPo:  “Paul offered sharp words for a recent effort to extend portions of the Patriot Act…He lamented the size of the military budget, which he told the CPAC crowd should not be confused with the money necessary for national defense….The crowd, which had earlier offered decent receptions to several prospective Republican presidential candidates, could barely contain its enthusiasm.”
  • Salon:  “I spoke with one young Paul supporter, Sean Ryan, who came down to CPAC from Boston. He discovered Paul while watching the the 2007 Republican primary debate, when Paul went head to head with Rudy Giuliani about the causes of September 11. Like many Paul supporters, Ryan has a well-articulated worldview, emphasizing foreign policy and fiscal issues, and he admires Paul’s consistency.”
