Oakland University Students Embrace Free Speech: Writing on the Candidates

On Wednesday, January 25, the YAL chapter at Oakland University hosted our first event of the semester with a gutsy free speech event. We had two cardboard cutouts–one of Donald Trump and one of Hillary Clinton–for students to write on, either words of protest or words of support. The result was nothing less than spectacular! A wide variety of political opinions were presented to us, and we had some great discussions about freedoms in the country and especially on campus.

The event got us a plethora of signatures and emails, so hopefully it will prove to be a great way to recruit consistent members. Our chapter is growing, and we are beyond excited to spread our principles to the campus!
