Only 53%?!?

Rasmussen has just released some new and interesting polls claiming that only 53% of Americans believe that capitalism is better than socialism. 20% disagree with this statement and 27% aren’t sure which is better. This, compared to an earlier survey last December where 70% of Americans preferred a free-market economy, brings Rasmussen to the conclusion that “The fact that a “free-market economy” attracts substantially more support than “capitalism” may suggest some skepticism about whether capitalism in the United States today relies on free markets.”

The poll also notes that adults under 30 are the most skeptical of a capitalist system. Clearly YAL is needed now more than ever to spread the truth among young people — it’s not the free market nor the capitalist system that has failed, but instead, as Dr. Paul put it in the forward to Meltdown, “It is the intervention into the market that has failed. The Federal Reserve and its manipulation of money and interest rates have failed. None of this can be blamed on the free market, but that isn’t stopping newspaper columnists from doing so anyway.” The people must be told the truth…they deserve no less.
