Real Change Report: Update from UC Irvine

I just got this email from Tony with the YAL UC Irvine chapter. They are off to a real good start in California. To read more, check out their previous Real Change Report.

So the event was a huge success and we were able to complete all of our objectives (recruit new members, inform people about Obama, and get media coverage). At the beginning I was the only libertarian I knew of at UCI, we succeeded in signing up about 30 people to our email list and have gotten several replies. We are going to have our first meeting on Thursday Jan. 29th and I will obtain signatures for the forms needed to hand in to the Dean of Students Office to make our group official with the UCI campus. We handed out hundreds of fliers about Obama and his cabinet and had discussions with numerous people. We utilized the side walk chalk to write out some of our key points so people walking by would be able to read it if they were not interested in talking to us. I also got an interview with a local news paper, the OC Register and the article appeared in the Register and in the Irvine World News (owned by the same company). You can see the article online here:

I would like to thank all of you for your help and support and also would like to mention that this would not have been possible without the help of several non-UCI volunteers such as Frank Alonzo, Doris Dialogu, Todd, Cameron, Nina, Oscar, and Jose.
