Reclaim New York at Siena College

On the evening of Monday, October 9, 2017, the Siena College Young American’s for Liberty Chapter had the pleasure of hosting Reclaim New York for their first event of the semester. Mike Armstrong, the Long Island Regional Director of Reclaim New York, came to Siena College via train from Long Island, NY with an informative and relatable presentation for the college students who attended. Seats were filled with Siena students, some students from other colleges, and older guests as well.

Reclaim New York is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that empowers citizens, through education and civic engagement, to make New York a better place to live, work, and raise a family. Many young, New York college students wonder if they will be able to stay in New York after they graduate due to things such as the very high taxes. Mike Armstrong of Reclaim New York presented facts on the extremely high taxes and political corruption in New York along with explaining why it is so expensive. Armstrong urged to the audience that New Yorkers can make a change as long as they recognize that there is a problem. Mike Armstrong also mentioned to the audience members in disagreement of his message that if an individual has no problem paying high taxes then that individual clearly does not think there is anything to fix. In the words of Reclaim New York, “If it’s broken, fix it!”.
