Restore the 4th at Wright State

A cold wind rushed over the Miami Valley on Wednesday, October 26th, 2017. Today was the day. It was the day to restore the fourth.

The day started off well; the YAL team at Wright State handed out a few flyers, some constitutions, and even had a heckler who had no point to make with her yelling. All in all, this yielded one of the most successful days this chapter ever had.

For anyone who would find interest, the heckler tackled the tough issues, like who gets to pay for her birth control, why only police should have guns, and also why police are corrupt all at the same time. Being the absolute masters of kindness that Noah, my VP, and I are, we stayed calm, let the situation de-escalate on its own, and eventually overcame the rowdy and unsettling woman. No violent rhetoric or actions resulted from either side, which we can all be thankful for.

At the end of the day, we talk to nearly 100 people on the importance of government accountability and transparency, something on which both sides can agree. Around 10 or so students received constitutions and well over 100 received a flyer explaining the Restore The Fourth movement. In our eyes, we would call this a success and cannot wait for next year!
