#RestoreTheFourth at the University of Maryland

On October 26th, my chapter held its Restore the Fourth meeting where we talked about the Patriot Act and privacy under the current administration. We had people of all political affiliations show up for the YAL pre-made presentation on the subject and, oddly enough, most people saw common ground. In fact, UMD students were so universally in favor of more privacy that the 4th amendment could easily be used as a way to build political alliances. The only point of contention was whether or not corporations should also have to respect privacy. This question was more interesting, and people’s views on that matter didn’t seem to correlate with any political affiliation. Overall it was a fun time, and I’m glad I got to participate in Restoring the Fourth.
