The previous week was National School Choice Week across the nation. We at YAL San Francisco State University have been strong advocates for school choice and diversity in the education system. Education is the key to ending economic barriers. But what does that mean? We can’t expect, in a mixed society like ours, for a “one size fits all” solution to equip our children with the tools necessary to be successful in our society.
We received a very good reception from the SFSU community. Many students liked the idea of more choice in education. We didn’t advocate for ending public schools but instead advocated for different options for parents, especially those trapped in poverty.
