With numbers of 40,000 to 68,000 more troups being sent to Afghanistan being thrown around like it’s nothing, let’s take a look at what is behind these numbers. This doesn’t mean 40,000 to 68,000 dispensable machines. What this does mean is 40,000 to 68,000 human lives: the most indispensable thing of all. Brothers, sisters, husband, wives, fathers, mothers. People who aspired to be something more than just another tally in the casualty box: track stars, scholars, punk rockers, outdoorsmen, neighborhood organizers.
