South Alabama’s Free Speech Event

Today our YAL chapter tabled in our Student Center lobby, rolled the free speech ball between the Student Center and our Humanities building, and passed out pocket Constitutions and informational card to everyone we saw. We were collecting signatures needed to amend our outdated and unconstitutional speech codes and got 213 out of the needed 800 today alone! This was the first in a series of events that grow in size leading up to our big YALOWEEN event where we will be “triggering” every speech code at once and requesting the school amend or remove the codes! We also got around 10 sign ups to join the club and few people who said they had been looking for something, “just like us!” We’re super excited to see what all will come of this!
