Young Americans for Liberty at Southeastern Louisiana University hosted a beginning-of-semester event this past weekend with “Wingin’ It for Liberty,” a free barbecue and informational event at the Southeastern Student Union Park.
The barbecue was a concurrent event during Southeastern’s “Traditions” freshmen move-in celebration. New students on campus, who followed the trail of chalked signs to find us, were treated to free barbecue chicken and drinks while talking to current members and officers about Young Americans for Liberty, our ideas, and upcoming events for this semester. Students were even able to take the World’s Smallest Political Quiz right on an iPad and have their score recorded on our board!
Many of our members and officers were able to brave the south Louisiana summer heat to help out, including Kirk Taylor (our resident griller), president Matt Kennedy and vice-president Kevin Dupuy, along with Carlos Mendez, and Devin Barras. Everyone pitched in to help serve food, man tables, and talk to students. Our afternoon resulted in over two and a half pages of new sign-ups, who we all hope to see at our first meeting next Wednesday!
