On Friday, January 19, myself, State Chair Kevin Cline, and Recruitment Director Harrison Sorm stormed the Akron Student Union, armed with only clipboards, pamphlets, and enthusiasm. After to talking to dozens of students and gathering almost as many signups, we successfully spread the message of liberty on the campus. We were pleasantly surprised with the overwhelmingly positive reception from students, and the enthusiasm for free speech on campus.
At one point, a student we recruited approached us, and said that a Student Union Administrator was looking for us. Apparently, she attempted to confiscate the recruitment materials from said student. Though we did not encounter her, we kept a watchful eye and our phones ready to record in the event of her forcing us off campus. This incident is an example of exactly why we defend free speech on campus everyday.Published in
