On October 25th, Temple University’s YAL chapter held a Defend the Constitution event! Starting at 11am we set out to the bell tower to pass out pocket Constitutions to our fellow Owls! It was a chilly day with rain in the forecast, but we weren’t going to let that stop us. We received an awesome activism kit from YAL that featured a bunch of pocket Constitutions we could use to host our event! The Foundation For Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) and the Leadership Institute (LI) provided us with even more Constitutions so we had a ton to give out! We tried to count how many we passed out, but students were so excited to get their own copy that we couldn’t keep up! We definitely gave out at least 200 Constitutions within an hour!
Defend the Constitution is always a popular event on our campus. Every time we’re so thrilled to see how excited our classmates are about the Constitution. It was really cool to see groups of college students walking down Liacouras Walk with their faces buried in their new pocket Constitutions! Getting over 200 college students to read the Constitution in a single day is definitely a success in our book! Our chapter is so excited for the rest of our events this semester!Published in
