The Corporate State and Black Gold

Greg Beach, a good friend of mine, has written an excellent post at the Tufts Roundtable on the disaster in the Gulf. Beach’s thought on the subject are particularly interesting, as he is an Obama voter who is increasingly skeptical and distrustful of the Obama administration. He says,

I think the extent to which our government is completely owned by corporations did not become clear to me until the Democrats took over. Growing up in the Bush era, I naturally expected the United States government to be corrupt and corporate. After all, in my mind, that was just what Republicans do. Oh, how wrong I was about corruption’s exclusivity to elephants…
