Last night, our friend Tyler Coward from The FIRE, came to speak to our chapter at Rutgers University. We enjoyed a presentation on what the first amendment means for us as students at a public university, the current precedent and trends we see in the courts, and what The FIRE does for students and educators alike. It was an interactive discussion; many of us asked questions and made comments.
I have heard presentations from The FIRE in several places, on differing subjects, and from four different representatives from the organization. As a State Chair and YAL Chapter President, I would highly recommend requesting a speaker from FIRE to come and speak at your college.
You can request a speaker here: //docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScP1Vtt_G-TeH6Ned6MaHE9GLx_FUW8mZXVhfPITX9jYiDpYw/viewform
Be sure to let all of YAL know about your event!
