As I sat back Saturday night and watched, vote after vote, my liberties just being brushed away, I couldn’t help but think of 1984. While the Patriot Act has been my measuring stick for the Big Brother state up until this point, should the House health care bill pass the Senate I think I’ll have a new guide of despotism.
Where, on God’s green Earth could anyone, in any way, construe the words of the Constitution to say that they have the authority to force me to buy anything? Have we really lost that much sight of our federal government’s purpose that we can have usurpations and advancements of despotism APPLAUDED!?!?! Why wasn’t there immediately a mass of people flocking to the street yesterday? Where our founding fathers literally vandalized British property over taxes, here we have our legislators taking our very free will to no reaction! Ok, I’ll chalk it up to being only two days since the vote — maybe people are waiting until the Senate decides on it, but honestly, I saw the news cover one guy from Illinois who mentioned the mandate (didn’t see Ron Paul once).
These are not frivolous times: these are times of chains; these are the times that try men’s souls. The people in Washington, under guise of security and good will, are effectively cuffing you and stealing the very essence of human existence: our God given right of free will. I, for one, will not stand for it…the least you can do is call your senators or email them.
Screw politeness; don’t let them underestimate the conviction people have against this monstrosity. Who do I have to quote? Paine, Jefferson, Henry…give me liberty or give me death! That’s god d@mned right!Published in
