The TEA Party Is Over

“The elections are over,” said an Establishment, inside-the-beltway, Republican to me last week.

“The TEA Party depends on the Republican Party now,” he said. “The angry citizens will go back to their everyday lives, and we will continue run the agenda.”

Luckily for us, it’s not up to him — it’s up to you and me.

You and I have fought too hard to build this movement over these past three years! I will not roll over and have some Republican hack tell me we’re finished!

But you see, this is exactly how Washington works.

Just like your job is to go back to school, take care of your family, be productive at work, or run your own business, their full-time job is to find a way to maintain the status quo in Washington.

“The elections are over,” they say. “Go home, TEA Party!”

I challenge you with this:  Do not forget the last time the Republicans were in power. The Bush Administration grew government larger than any administration in American history, only to be surpassed by the Obama Administration.

Here we are, two years later, and the Republican leadership hasn’t even changed. John Boehner will return as the Speaker of the House and Mitch McConnell will return as the Senate Minority Leader.

This is why it is so important you and I remain engaged and vigilant this upcoming legislative session.  Ron Paul’s 2008 campaign lit a match and the TEA Party turned it into a wild fire. Do not let the Establishment take it back from you!

Our work to cut the size and scope of government has only begun. Senator-Elect Rand Paul has not backed down from this fight, and we must not let him!

2010 Election Analysis

You and I won MAJOR battles on Election Day last week.

November 2, 2010, was the largest single-day advancement for our movement since the day the TEA Party started on December 16, 2007, with a $6 million money bomb!

Six Election Day accomplishments you should be aware of:

1.  YAL recruited, trained, and mobilized 343 youth activists this past election season:

  • 103 young activists for Spring Break in Kentucky (March).
  • 51 young activists returned to Kentucky before the primary to GOTV (May).
  • 42 young activists for YAL Bootcamp in North Carolina (June).
  • 37 young activists for YAL Bootcamp in New Hampshire (October).
  • 31 young activists for YAL Bootcamp in Michigan (October).
  • 43 young activists for GOTV for Freedom in Kentucky (October).
  • 36 full-time hired staff to work on campaigns as field staff or campaign manager.

2.  Congressman Ron Paul is in line to receive the Chairmanship for the Subcommittee for Domestic Monetary Policy and Technology.

The historical enormity of this position cannot be adequately stated. Congressman Paul first ran for Congress in 1976, focusing primarily on monetary policy.  Now he will soon serve as the Chairman of the committee which oversees the Federal Reserve!

3Justin Amash is a newly elected, 30-year-old congressman from Michigan.  I recommend you keep an eye on him. He is a well-studied Austrian economist, a strict Constitutionalist, and will likely join Congressman Ron Paul on the same subcommittee that oversees the Federal Reserve. In short, he’s a rising star for our cause in Congress.

There will soon be TWO Austrian economists on the same subcommittee that directly oversees our central bank! This is historic!

4Rand Paul announced that he will form a TEA Party caucus in the Senate.

Coming off his decisive victory, Senator-Elect Rand Paul quickly announced he will form a “TEA Party caucus.” Rand Paul, Jim DeMint, Mike Lee, and a significant number of House members will form this coalition to support a unified “TEA Party” agenda.

It’s up to you and me to hold this caucus accountable, define their policies, and remind them why we sent them to Washington — to clean up our fiscal mess. We must demand principled, constitutional reforms from our elected officials.

Please keep your focus on this newly forming caucus. It has great potential if you and I hold them accountable to their campaign promises and support their achievements.

5Republicans picked up 680 seats in state legislatures and flipped at least 14 state chambers.

The most under-reported news from last week was the tidal wave at the state level. To end Obamacare, states must re-assert their sovereignty. You and I can’t rely on John Boehner and Mitch McConnell to do anything. We must fight for the 10th Amendment in state legislatures!

Our best strategy to restore liberty may reside in these united States. Fighting our battles at the state level and resisting federal mandates may be our most important battleground of them all. With this TEA Party tidal wave, you will find many outstanding state legislators in your home state to work with. You and I must champion and encourage any productive initiative to support the 10th Amendment.

Additionally, this coming year is a redistricting year, so gerrymandered districts for entrenched Democrats may come to an end in several states. In fact, this may result in a victory next election for B.J. Lawson in North Carolina.

The entire political map will be reshaped as a result and provide us with many districts and opportunities to target in 2012!

612 of 16 Ron Paul-endorsed candidates won their election.

Candidates such as NH State Senator Jim Forsythe and Congressmen Paul Broun and Walter Jones won last week. This is the first time 12 Ron Paul-endorsed candidates have won their race!

There are many other accomplishments and victories from last week’s TEA Party tidal wave, but there are too many to list here. The Republican Liberty Caucus has a complete election analysis of their endorsed candidates and the Washington Post covers other TEA Party groups to give you a clearer picture of the results.

“Historic” does not even begin to explain what just happened. It was the first step in an entire change of direction for our country. But only if you and I remain committed to our principles and engaged in the political process.

Do not back down! And do not check out!

You and I have much work ahead. The Establishment wants us to go away. Please do not give them their wish.

Thank you for supporting Young Americans for Liberty, the Ron Paul R3volution, and the TEA Party. There is no way we would have made it this far without your contributions and participation.

The R3volution continues…

For liberty,

Jeff Frazee
Executive Director, YAL

P.S. — Thank you to all of our members and supporters who have bravely served in the military. We hope you have a restful day on this Veterans Day. Also, go eat at Applebee’s tonight. They are giving away free food to all military veterans!
