UI YAL Rocked the Student Org Fair

This past week was very busy for my chapter at the University of Iowa, but we are growing already even though we have been in school for about two weeks! Wednesday, August 31st was the Student Organization Fair where all eligible student orgs could sign up for a table and recruit new members. In years past the YAL table was never heavily trafficked, but this year we bumped it up a notch by adding some ‘in-your-face’ Turning Point posters and displaying the YAL political quiz. People were very curious about taking the quiz and we ended up getting 70 sign ups in 3 hours! Some Iowa City police officers even decided to take the quiz while they were on duty at the fair. Special thanks to Josiah Argo, and Abby Evans who used their recruitment skills to put themselves in the running for executive positions in our chapter. Also, thanks to Derek Jacobson who is a field representative with the Leadership Institute who was at our table too! Overall, the recruitment drive with a big success and we are looking to do another mid-semester recruitment push in a few months.
