YAL at the University of Mary Washington has finally become recognized by our university! It’s been a long road to recognition – from clip-boarding at August’s club carnival to get enough members, to hunting down an advisor who is willing to support free speech, property rights and social freedoms all at the same time – but man, was it worth it! The Spring semester has brought in more sign ups and more genuine interest than we could have hoped for, and it’s only upwards from here.
We chose to hold a Free Speech Ball event as our big activism and outreach this semester, and it attracted republican students, socialist students, faculty and even some university-contracted arborists joining in to support a marketplace of ideas. This is what it’s all about, folks: strengthening our alliances to advance the cause of liberty. Congratulations to all other chapters who have hosted successful free speech events this semester, as well. Here’s to getting a running start for the Fall!Published in
