The University of Virginia YAL chapter used Constitution Week as the platform for a lecture on Public Choice economics. Dr. Coppock of the University of Virginia delivered the lecture, choosing to focus on George Stigler’s capture model of government regulation.
After his main lecture, Mr. Coppock answered student’s questions. When asked what the best safeguard was against expanding government interventions, he quickly and simply replied, “A strong Constitution.”
To conclude the presentation, Mr. Coppock gave recommended readings to the students in attendance including works by Milton Friedman, Hayek, and others.
