After its first semester on campus caused a local media firestorm, YAL’s chapter at Oakland University continued its liberty campaign with a winter recruiting event on January 5th. With six organization members in attendance, YAL continued to spread its message to the students of Oakland University. This is the first of 12 planned events for the chapter this semester.
This event was planned the night before after a clerical error meant our chapter hadn’t reserved a table. With the help of a kind university staff member we were able to secure a table the day of. Organizing the chapter members coming out of holiday break meant a long night of digital correspondence to get an accurate headcount. We also didn’t have a recruiting kit yet, meaning we had to improvise our table setup. Everyone brought something to put on the table.
The event helped build group bonding as a result of the last second rush. More importantly we were able to continue our fight to spread liberty to Oakland University.Published in
