The YAL Chapter at CSUDH had a great start to its Fall 2015 Recruitment Drive. We tabled for two days on September 1 and 2 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. both days and additionally on the 2 from 4 pm-6:30 p.m.
We were able to recruit over 80 sign ups over the two days and in the meantime, we learned some valuable lessons.
We met with other student organizations who were willing to work with us on some criminal justice reform issues and with organizations like the Pre-Law society and fraternities interested in working together on “Flex Your Rights” events. Also, the service organizations were interested on working with us on charity issues, in which our chapter is very big on giving back to both our school and the local community.
Besides the different student groups who showed interest, we met plenty of students who were interested in our group. We had students who were curious about their Miranda and Constitutional rights — with students asking how they can know more.
Overall, it was a good start to the semester and now begins the preparation for Constitution week coming up!
