This past Monday at the University of Delaware, our YAL chapter partnered up with the Benjamin Rush Institute to host a debate on why the cost of Health Insurance Premiums were so high.
Geoff Wilson, a member of the Physicians Organizing Committee, argued that the costs were rising due to corporate greed. On the opposing side John Graham, a senior fellow at the National Center for Policy Analysis, argued that the reason was costly regulations. We spent all week all week advertising to the other political clubs on campus as well as to med students and public policy students.
Not to mention hours of handing out flyers. Before the debate started we surveyed the room and it seemed an event split of who the attendees thought would win. After the debate the room was surveyed again, the votes were tallied and John Graham won by a landslide!
