Earlier this week the Eastern Washington University YAL set up a booth for our National #Restorethe4th activism. We were a bit late on the draw, but we still wanted to make sure it got done. We tabled for three hours and gave it our all, to make sure the students of EWU learned about their 4th Amendment rights.
Since this was our first event of the season we also used it as an excuse to look for new memberships and we got nearly 30 signups! which was pretty good for how cold it was today. Our #Restorethe4th survey poster filled up with stars and there were a lot of people who seemed genuinely interested in what we had to say. Some were all for individual liberty, though there were a few who believed the government has the right to keep an eye on people for certain things, specifically through public video surveillance and weapon ownership.
We ran out of pocket constitutions and bottle openers first, and quite a few student and staff members stopped to talk or engage in good-natured debate. Our follow-up meeting is tentatively scheduled for November 16th at 3:30 pm, and we hope to have a good showing.
All in all it was a good first event of the year, and we are excited to move forward! GO EAGLES!Published in
