YAL Tax Protest

Newly appointed YAL New York State Chairman, Trevor Leach, wasted no time to make an impact. A group of YAL members in New York protested the New York Governor’s proposed 18% tax increase on non-diet sodas. Trevor and the rest of the group re-enacted the Boston Tea New York Soda Party to demonstrate against new soda taxes.

Whether intended or not, they also made a subtle point about the absurdity of environmental regulations. Don’t worry, no animals were harmed during their protest; they received all required permits from the government to dump trace amounts of soda into the river.
