Young Americans for Liberty at UNC-Chapel Hill doesn’t quit, and we quickly turned around after our Belle Knox event to celebrate Constitution week. Members gathered on Saturday and constructed a beautiful free speech wall featuring a “Go Heels, Go America” theme. Our chapter has vastly grown this semester, and new members are taking initiative to become active!
Wednesday we held a meeting discussing unconstitutional wars. The group enjoyed watching videos of Ron Paul through the years explaining how our foreign policy has continually violated the Constitution.
Thursday, it was time for the big event — we built our Free Speech Wall! It began with the set up process.
Once our wall was built, it received a lot of attention from the student body!
Our wall was covered in messages by end of the day!
We also passed out pocket Constitutions and let students take YAL’s political quiz. Many students ended up in the libertarian square, prompting questions and curiosity about getting involved in the chapter.
Constitution week was a success because new members took initiative, and the chapter solidified itself as a key player in our campus’s political dialogue. We also identified many students as libertarians or libertarian-leaning, and received many listserv sign ups.
YAL @ UNC is on fire this year. And we are just getting started!Published in
