YAL @ UVA Visualize the debt events

Mini debt clock

Death by debt

Flyering

YAL @ UVA hosted a “Death by Debt” pizza event to attract students on grounds to come and learn about the national debt as part of the Visualize the Debt project.  Participants were asked to walk the lawn and were told that each foot they walked symbolized over 22 dollars in their own personal debt.

Mini debt clocks were also set up around grounds to help advertise for the event.  These had to be replaced often due to bad weather in Charlottesville, but they definitely attracted attention.

Furthermore, in conjunction with Students for Liberty, Dr. Tom G Palmer from the Cato Institute came to speak about free markets and government spending.  His talk attracted a very intellectual crowd interested in liberty.
