On September 19th, Young Americans for Liberty at Kent State University kicked off their first activism project with a Free Speech ball! It was a campus favorite. The students actively participated in the event and even took pictures with the ball.
To our liking there was no issue with the administration. Although, some school officials did come over and ask what our event was about. We kindly explained and they stated it was a lovely way to promote discussion.
Over 300 students participated in the event and over 200 signed our petition to adopt the Chicago principles of free speech on campus. We also added five more signups to our already growing chapter!
We had a local newspaper run our article and it ended up making the front page the next day! We definitely were proud of our chapter for prompting such waves on campus. The story was also run on TV2, Kent State’s premier TV news station that is also available to the surrounding county residents.
Our chapter is on our roll (pun intended) here at Kent State University and we are not stop anytime soon! Cliff Maloney Jr. put us to the test at YALcon and wanted us to #BeTheNext. We are here to say we will #BeTheNext best mid-atlantic chapter! We are already planning our next activism event as I type.Published in
