Protect Students’ Rights in Kentucky – Pass HB 455

The free exchange of ideas is critical for a robust and effective education.  The freedoms of spontaneous speech and assembly prepare students to face other groups and individuals in the world that will not agree with their views.  Providing the same rights guaranteed by the First Amendment of the Constitution benefits pubic and private universities by producing graduates fully prepared to reach others with their message and stay strong in their own beliefs.

We the undersigned want more freedom of expression and protection for our students and their right to free speech in the great state of Kentucky. We demand that university administrations respect our students’ constitutional right to free speech and due process. We believe Speaker Osbourne (R – HD59) and Senator Wise (R – SD 16) need to bring HB 455 out of committee and to a recorded vote.
